She starts by making a loop in some cotton covered wire and then using a fine strip of wool to wrap it. Then, she shows you how to cover this in fine patches of felted wool for a professional finish. Now there's no excuses - you can turn any little feltie you make into a decoration for the Christmas tree. Or an Easter branch!

Learn how to turn a soft felted ball into a pretty heart shape. It takes a little patience but is well worth the effort. This a brilliant core shape for Valentine's day decorations and gifts. We used merino wool tops but you could use any wool you have to hand. Start by felting a round ball (see our previous video) and then felt along with us. This project takes around 5 minutes.

If you're a needle felting beginner, one of the best things you can learn is how to make a ball. This forms the base for most easy projects and if you can make them yourself, you can avoid using nasty polystyrene or ordering expensive felt balls. This ball takes around 12 minutes to make and is the perfect size for a bauble or a pumpkin or the body of a felted creature. To make a smaller head or a small bird, simply start with slightly less fibre. Follow along for all of our top tips...
