If you can get out into the countryside at all this month, make it a bluebell walk. Here's a mindful meditation that is guaranteed to help you tune fully into the moment.

Bluebells often peak in late April and early May, but you’ll start spotting them earlier depending on where you are. We have included a list of famous places to visit in the UK further down, but you can find them in shady corners of parks and woodlands all over the place.
A Five-Step Meditation to Try

1 — Arrive with a Pause
Silence your phone or leave it behind. Go with the intention of being totally present. Don’t just jump out of the car and start stomping along. Pause for a moment when you arrive. Take one long, slow breath in, and an even longer breath out. Drop your shoulders. And then walk…
2 — Adjust Your Gaze
As you stroll, let your vision go wide rather than focused solely on the path at your feet. Notice the shapes and colours that make up the entire scene before you. A carpet of green and the most vivid blue. Try squinting to blur the colours. Then, squat down and examine a single flower in detail.
3 — Inhale Deeply
Enjoy the fresh air—it's good for you! This might sound silly, but scientific research by the National Library of Medicine, USA, states that the air in a forest is filled with phytoncides, microbial diversity, and negatively charged ions. All of which can improve physical disorders ranging from diabetes and chronic heart failure to hypertension and stress. Not only that, but the sea of bluebells at your feet smells amazing too. So breathe deeply in and out to the bottom of your lungs.

4 — Focus with Your Feet
Be mindful as you walk. Bring your attention to the feeling of your feet moving: heel… sole… toes. Try to maintain this focus without distraction and notice how your heartbeat slows and the tension in your body dissolves. Your mind may go totally blank.
5 — Leave with One Intention
We hope that you enjoyed this walk in nature more than usual. Before you head home, choose one soul intention for the rest of the day and hold it close: “Go steady.” “Notice beauty.” “Be kind to myself.”
